La Reine Pedauque cruises near Dijon, on the Burgundy canal through the Valley Ouche. The canal climbs through the surrounding hills following the river
which gently meanders in the narrowing valley, passing through small villages.
Near the summit of the canal, the barge enters the Auxois plain below the imposing
shadow of the fortress Chateauneuf en Auxois.

The famous towns of Beaune (wine capital of Burgundy and the Hospices de Beaune), Nuits Saint George are very close to the canal. The Burgundy vine yards of the Cote de Nuit and Cote de Beaune are also shown to the south.
